Barney Rubble was so afraid and standoffish when I first brought him home nearly four years ago. He came with a bonus - a long horn that was resistant when he was disbudded. I made an appointment with my vet and off it came. Needless to say, the vet experience was very painful and cemented his antisocial behavior toward humans. Since that time, with lots of patience, he has learned to trust me. I was amazed that he allowed me to do his shot and worming maintenance. I was able to clip and bathe him with not too much resistance. He's a sweet boy and knows his name; he watches for me and comes to the gate. I just love this pretty little boy. He did not want to pose and would not squat for me, but you can get a general idea of him and his fine conformation.
Barney has earned his +S status and will soon have his +B. He needs one more daughter to star for this status. We have many of his young daughters who will go on test soon. His pedigree boasts of mucho milk in his background, but he missed inheriting his stars through his parents. We are working on that. Barney was appraised once as a yearling and did rather well. Since that time, he has matured and has greater depth of body. He is long in body and has excellent ribbing that he tends to pass on to his children.
