Astro
Boy is a combination of some of our Esperanza and DesertNanny lines,
and his pedigree shows the incorporation of some new genetics through Castle Rock, Lost Valley,
Double Sundog and some blending of the lines by way of
IronwoodRanch. We are pleased with the results of these efforts.
Astro's dam was a first freshener when he and his sister,
DesertNanny UMA Cosmos Girl, were born. We don't always
keep bucklings from first fresheners, but he was an exception to the
rule. At close to a year old, his dam, Peppermint Patty, was busy
making a mark in the show ring as a doe in milk, and working hard on her DHI
lactation. She was noticed in the ring and earned a Grand Champion
and a reserve in her second year of life, and continued milking for
255 days to earn her ADGA Advanced Registry Status.
Astro
was very young when we first began using him for breeding and did
not always settle the does on the first try. Never the less, kidding
season 2011 proved fruitful for his efforts with 21 kids being born
in our herd from him - all on the ground before he was a even a year
of age.
Astro
was collected by Bio-Genics in October 2010; his genetics are tucked
away in our tank for posterity. Keep watch of our Breedings page for
